Selling a gorgeous Mid Century Vintage 1967 – 1968 Grundig Locarno 1/U AM SW1 SW2 FM Tube Stereo Turntable Console West Germany. The console powers on and the backlight, FM STEREO indicator and the rare “Magic Eye” linear tuning tube light up. No expensive tune replacement are needed on this unit! The speakers work, the tuner changes stations on SW bands but didn’t pull in FM, maybe an antenna issue. The tuner tunes but the red indicator does not physically move across the dial. One of the silver covers to one of the SW buttons is missing. I could not get the turntable to work but am not familiar with the machine. I pressed a couple of buttons but nothing happened and I couldn’t play around with it too much in the short time I had to inspect the unit. The cabinet is in excellent shape and the core electronics all work, for somebody who is familiar with classic, simply engineered vintage electronics getting this German beauty up to 100% functionality requires nothing more than routine maintenance and should be an absolute breeze for someone with the technical skills to complete the minor tune-ups.
